Why Skilling?
The youth make up more than one-third of Kenya's population, playing a significant role in the country's labor force. With a sizable young population, Kenya stands to gain substantially from its demographic dividend if its youth are equipped with strong skills and are employable. At AECA, we strive to harness the potential of underprivileged youth by providing them with proper guidance and direction, thereby contributing to economic advancement and nation-building efforts.
What we do
AECA through its Livelihood programme connects the unemployed or underemployed youth from disadvantaged groups and communities with the sectors which have large growth potential in terms of revenue generation and employability. The staggering youth population underutilized in the job market because of a lack of requisite qualifications and training are upskilled, uplifted, and mainstreamed to become a part of the country’s growth story.
The programme also trains and coaches disadvantaged women and caregivers who are excluded from mainstream financials services, giving them the leverage to start or nurture their businesses.
The livelihood programme aims to complement the government’s vision and efforts and is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 8.

Stories Of Change
I work as an intern with AECA.The internship programme has equipped me with skills for my future career prospects.
After a full week of training on job market skills by AECA, I was linked to an employer with whom we enjoy cordial work relations to date due to my stellar performance. I have moved from dire poverty to a life of promise.
I am a beneficiary of AECA women empowerment programme. After training on business management, I was given a free sewing machine. I am now able to support my children from my business even though am a single mother.
